Establishing Foundations: The Absolutes

We need to understand and stay focused on the Absolutes of scripture. These are the unchanging truths of God that all other things are built upon. They can be found in the following verse: Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

I would also add one other thing. The Bible is the infallible, inspired word of God, being the final authority, as if Jesus himself was speaking the words to us. These absolutes apply to everyone, and are even cross-cultural. These Absolutes also can lead to heaven and hell issues. We often treat all levels of our Christian life with the same level of conviction as we would an Absolute! This confuses the Body and the unsaved as to what is truly important. We defend personal preferences as if they are heaven and hell issues. We have established wrong value systems within the Body of Christ. No wonder people feel Christianity actually is made of many different belief systems. We preach, with fervency, and expand into deductions and sometimes the bulk of preaching or reasoning is deductive instead of dealing with Absolutes! Defend the Absolutes!!!!
