Establishing Foundations: Prayer Rooms

Rooms for prayer: they come in all shapes and sizes. Some are large. Some are small. Some have stations. Some have banners. Some have pillows. Some have benches. No matter what they look like, they all have one common purpose - to see a fulfillment of Isaiah 56:7: "for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations."

"Every Christian needs a specific place, free of all distractions, for the purpose of communion of God in prayer" stated Dick Eastman.

Prayer rooms provide a place to promote agreement in prayer. They provide people a place to feel safe praying. They provide an atmosphere of prayer. They provide a catalyst to some who have never prayed before in their lives. Prayer rooms are an essential part of your prayer ministry. Dr. Alvin Vander Griend puts it this way, "A prayer room ministry is to the church, what the heart is to the body."

A prayer room can be a room set aside specifically for that use or it can be the church sanctuary. Such a room becomes a place where church members come to engage in such vital matters as:

Charles Finney wrote: "Nothing tends more to cement the hearts of Christians than praying together. Never do they love one another so well as when they witness the outpouring of each other's hearts in prayer."

There is a prayer room upstairs at the west end of the office hallway. The sanctuary is available for prayer anytime that it is not in use. Please take advantage of both locations and spend time with Him.
