Establishing Foundations: Unconditional Love
The whole world is looking for it. People try to buy it. The church should be living it. What is it? Unconditional love. Jesus loves us in spite of all our faults and failures. The love of God just keeps coming towards us. The most amazing action in the Bible is not the miracles we read about, but that while we were yet sinners, Jesus Christ died for us. He paid for our mistakes in advance of us even being born.
If we have a God who loves us that much, is there anything He would withhold from us? Today many have wrong understanding of God. They lay blame towards Him for everything. Every good and perfect gift comes from God, all other bad things that occur in the world come from the devil. Why would a God who loves us so much to send His only son to die for us, would then turn around and pronounce evil upon us? That does not make sense.
Why are many of our youth coming from broken families? Why do many teenage girls end up pregnant? Why are many juvenile boys in trouble? The answer is the same for all. They are looking for other things to fill the void of not being loved. Today the human love we offer seems to come with limitations. I love you IF you sleep with me. I love you IF you act a certain way. I love you IF you give me what I desire.
Jesus never showed love that way. The church, as an expression of His love, should love unconditionally. Jesus realized we would fail, yet still loves us. We should operate in that same grace with others. Jesus forgave others, why is it so hard for us? We don't understand the depth of what true love is. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Charity (love) suffereth long, and is kind; charity (love) envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity(love) never faileth: As a church family, let us be known for our unconditional love being shown to one another.
